@rabble Thanks for popping in. @ralphm is correct: Jaiku is not on Google App Engine at the moment. We've just migrated the old back-end to a Google datacenter and are running the old service from there, having made a few minor changes such as lifting the limit on invites. We're working on porting Jaiku to the App Engine, but the port is not quite ready yet.
Not much, i'm mostly in the ruby camp, before rails i used to do python, and i was going to go to the djangocon but it is full and there are like 50 people ahead of me on the waiting list.

Honestly, given my understanding of how different the google setup is from the rest of the world. At least jaiku is python based... that helps.

Yup, Jaiku will be (nearly) fully Python-based once the GAE port is ready. Are you doing Python development currently?
